The Great Ski Race 2027
The Great Ski Race 2027 is a nordic ski event held on March 7, 2027 at the Tahoe Cross Country Center in Tahoe City, California. The race offers two loop course options that both start and finish at the venue.
- 26 km nordic ski loop from Tahoe Cross Country Center
- 10 km nordic ski loop on the lower, undulating trails of the nordic center
A separate Tour Wave is offered for skiers who wish to complete the 26 km course at a noncompetitive pace. The Tour Wave is untimed, will not have posted online results, and is limited to the first 35 participants; participants in this wave are expected to know the course and to yield to faster racers.
The event serves as the main fundraising effort for Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue, a non-profit all-volunteer organization. Race proceeds are used primarily to purchase equipment for the team and to support winter survival and avalanche education programs.
Registration is capped at 800 participants, and fees increase as the event date approaches; the fee structure is the same for both distances and includes adult and under-18 categories. Packet pickup is available in the days before the event and on race day. Both course finishes are followed by a finish line party with food and live music.
