Knaresborough Crag Rat Run 2026

The Knaresborough Crag Rat Run is a single-lap, 5 mile mixed terrain race around the southern fringes of Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, following sections that encircle the River Nidd. The course is undulating and combines trails, woodland paths and tarmaced sections; approximately half of the route is on tarmac.

The route starts and finishes at Knaresborough Cricket Club. Runners descend the crag onto a tarmaced riverside section, pass through woodland, follow a faster tarmac stretch back to a narrow path beside the river, cross the bridge near the Petrifying Well and then ascend the crag toward the finish. Race numbers with embedded timing chips are issued on race day.

Facilities listed for the event include water stations, distance markers, toilets, changing facilities and baggage storage; there are no showers. The event has an entry limit of 250 and is not suitable for wheelchairs. Prizes are awarded for top finishers and veteran categories and are supplemented by vouchers from local hospitality venues and donations from local businesses.

Entry fees range from £12.00 to £14.00 with entry on the day available for an additional £2.00. Tea, coffee and cakes will be served for cash donations and all money raised will go to Dementia Forward. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
