Kentucky Cryptid Series - Bigfoot

This is the fourth race in a series of trail runs that take place in Louisville area parks. The event is based at Horine Reservation in Jefferson Memorial Forest and uses the Red and Orange trail systems, with portions that travel toward the Welcome Center and back. The Start and Finish are located near the campground gate parking lot.

Distances

  • Bigfoot 8 Miler 8 Miles
  • Bigfoot 5 Miler 5 Miles

The 8-mile course includes an on-course water stop as runners return from the Red trail toward the lake. The 5-mile option has water and refreshments available at the finish area. The event is CUPLESS; participants must bring their own water bottle, hydration pack, or cup. Bottled water will be available in limited supply and there will be prepackaged snacks after the race.

Facilities include classic outhouse restrooms at the start/finish area and additional portable restrooms about 1/8 mile down the gravel campground lane. Packet pick-up is on-site near the parking lot prior to the race start. Parking at Horine Reservation is limited so carpooling is recommended.

Each race awards Overall Male and Overall Female placings. T-shirts are an optional add-on with a limited number available for sale on race day. Registration opens 2025-10-28 and closes 2026-10-04; the registration fee is $20 per race. A virtual participation option is available. Completing three of the four series races either in-person or virtually earns the Cryptid Series Survivor medal and shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
