Blackacre Barnstormer
Louisville, United States • 30 Aug 2026
Event Overview
The Blackacre Barnstormer takes place at the Blackacre Nature Preserve in Louisville, Kentucky. The race follows a route that navigates through fields and timbered trails, starting near the 1790 Double Crib Barn and the Historic Tyler Homestead. Participants run through various sections of the preserve, including meadow areas and wooded paths.
The course features multiple landmarks and natural points of interest. Runners pass the Sunrise Meadow trail along the tree line before entering the Waterfall Trail, which includes rocky terrain. The route also passes one of the oldest White Oaks in Kentucky and travels along the Cattail Pond trail. Other highlights include the Spring House, Dragonfly Pond, and the Sunset Trail, where farm animals such as goats and cows are visible.
The event offers two distinct distances:
- 4 Miles
- 8 Miles
The race utilizes a cupless format, requiring participants to bring their own hydration packs, water bottles, or reusable cups. Limited bottled water is available, but the organizers emphasize self-sufficiency for hydration during the run. The 8-mile participants complete the course loop twice, while the 4-mile participants complete a single loop to finish next to the Presley Tyler homestead.
On-site facilities include parking in a grass field, and carpooling is encouraged to preserve the grounds. Post-race amenities feature ice cream and pre-packaged snacks. All participants who complete the course receive a finisher medal. Race shirts are available as an optional add-on during the registration process. Awards are presented to the overall male and female finishers in both distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
