Ol' Silty Winter Warrior
Ol' Silty Winter Warrior is a 9 miles trail race held at Jefferson Memorial Forest with the Start/Finish near the Horine Reservation Parking Lot. The course follows parts of the Siltstone and Purple Heart trails, includes the Tom Wallace Trail and returns to Horine. The route passes the Welcome Center and a parking lot with a playground, and the course layout includes a turnaround on Jefferson Hill Road.
All finishers receive a finisher coin unique to the race. Shirts are available as a preorder add-on for $15 with a very limited number offered for sale on race day. The registration fee for the race is $25.
The event is part of the Winter Warrior Series; completing three of the four series races qualifies participants for a Winter Warrior Medal and Shirt. Each race awards Overall Male and Overall Female prizes.
This is a cupless trail event. An aid station is located about halfway through the course; participants should bring a water bottle, hydration pack, or cup. Limited bottled water and prepackaged snacks will be available after the race.
On-site packet pick-up is at the Horine Reservation Parking Lot and organizers plan to be set up around 8:00 AM. Restroom options at the start/finish include classic outhouse-style facilities and additional portable restrooms about 1/8 mile down the gravel campground lane. Parking is limited at the Horine lot and carpooling is encouraged. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
