Trail Running in Fairdale
Louisville Lovin' the Hills is a trail running event held in Fairdale, Kentucky. Organized by Headfirst Performance, the event features a single-track trail course through the forest. The terrain is divided into multiple sections, utilizing the Red/Orange Trail, Blue Trail, Yost Trail, Purple Heart Trail, Siltstone, and Scott's Gap.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 50 km
- 15 miles
- 6 miles
The race village is centered around the Horine Center, which serves as the start and finish area. After completing their distance, participants can gather indoors at the center for hot homemade soup, with both meat and vegan options provided. Each finisher receives a wooden medal for their participation.
The event organizers also host training runs in January to allow participants to familiarize themselves with the forest trails before the main event. In the event of a weather-related postponement, a backup date is typically scheduled for late May. Packet pickup is available on the morning of the race at the Horine Center or at a designated local outdoor store in Louisville on the preceding Friday.
