The course uses a mix of trail, road and fell terrain, with a closed-road town centre start at the Birdcage and a finish at the Kendal Mountain Festival Basecamp. The route is fully signed, waymarked and marshalled and includes short road sections between multi-terrain running. Two main aid stations are on course at Levens Methodist Church (20.9 km) and Kendal Climbing Wall (38.1 km), plus an additional water point at Underbarrow Road car park (29 km). Aid stations offer water, isotonic drinks, coke, sandwiches, hot soup, savoury snacks, sweets, cakes, fruit and gluten-free and vegan alternatives for those who requested them. Safety measures include digital timing, live GPS tracking, medical cover and a professional mountain rescue response team. Registration is at Abbot Hall Social Centre adjacent to the festival basecamp where runners collect race numbers and GPS trackers. Minimum age is 18. Dogs are not permitted and pacers or support runners are not allowed. Mandatory kit must be carried as listed on the event checklist.
