Jurassic Extinction / Jurassic Coast 100
The event offers multiple ultra-distance routes along the Jurassic Coast World Heritage coastline, running broadly from Poole to Exmouth. Routes follow the South West Coast Path waymarked with acorn symbols; competitors must self-navigate and use GPS devices only as backup. GPX files and Outdoor Active routes are provided.
Distances include:
- 105 miles Poole (South Haven Point) to Exmouth; height gain 5100 m
- 100 km Nothe Fort (Weymouth) to Exmouth; height gain 2900 m
- 70 km Poole (South Haven Point) to Nothe Fort; height gain 2200 m
- 50 km Lyme Regis to Exmouth; height gain 1730 m
- 33 km Beer to Exmouth; height gain 1050 m
Each distance has a designated time allowance and a required minimum pace. Live GPS tracking and checkpoint support are provided. The organiser notes active coastal diversions and advises following signed temporary diversions and the marked path; some sections have been moved inland due to landslips.
Safety provision includes professionally qualified outdoor safety teams at checkpoints and mobile units on course. Participants may pass through fields with livestock. Support crew access is restricted at indoor checkpoints and organizers advise checking overnight car park arrangements. Pre-event transport to start locations is available and must be booked in advance through the entry system. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
