Jurassic Extinction / Jurassic Coast 100 : event profile

The event is a multi-distance coastal ultra following the South West Coast Path along the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site. The next edition is scheduled for 20-21 June 2026 and includes supported race options with checkpoints and live GPS tracking.

Distances offered:

  • 105 miles Poole to Exmouth
  • 100 km Weymouth to Exmouth
  • 70 km Poole to Weymouth (Nothe Fort)
  • 50 km Lyme Regis to Exmouth
  • 33 km Beer to Exmouth

Routes are self-navigated following the acorn waymarks for the South West Coast Path; GPX files and an Outdoor Active route are available. Organisers note that sections of path are subject to regular alterations and temporary diversions. Several specific diversions are described, including inland reroutes at Rescombe CP, a Bindon Hill ridgeline approach to West Lulworth, a marked diversion after Nothe Fort where a bridge has collapsed, and a signed footpath at West Bay.

Safety provision includes the Climb South West safety team, first aid at checkpoints, and mobile units on course. Participants are advised to take care on unfenced cliff edges, respect livestock, keep noise to a minimum at night, and follow all temporary diversion signage. Support crew may meet participants between checkpoints but are not permitted inside indoor checkpoints. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
