Juniper Canyon Half Marathon
The Juniper Canyon Half Marathon is a trail running event held at W&M Butterfield Park in Herriman, Utah. The course consists of a lollipop loop that utilizes the Herriman City Trail System, with the terrain composed of 93% single track and 7% paved surfaces. Participants run through canyons, ridgelines, and foothills with views of the Wasatch Valley and Mountains.
The route features a total elevation gain of 1,681 ft. Specific course sections include:
- Start to Canyon Aid: 3.9 miles with +784/-249 ft elevation change.
- Canyon Aid to Loop: 5.3 miles with +668/-668 ft elevation change.
- Return to Finish: 3.9 miles with +249/-784 ft elevation change.
The event follows a no-cutoff policy to accommodate participants who prefer to walk. The course is marked with pink flags, ribbons, and signs, with trail marshals stationed at key points. Aid stations are located up to 5.9 miles apart and provide water, electrolyte drinks, gels, waffles, and fruit.
Participants receive a race shirt and a custom locally made finisher medal. Post-race amenities include a breakfast featuring seasonal sweet breads from Great Harvest Bread, bananas, and chocolate milk. Free race photos are provided without watermarks for all runners.
