Jordan River Blitz Backyard

The Jordan River Blitz Backyard is held on the paved Jordan River trail system and uses East River Front Park as the start and finish area. The course is a marked 4.167 mile loop that runs alongside the Jordan River with no road crossings and abundant free parking.

Runners complete the same loop once every hour for a total of 4, 8, or 12 hours. Each loop must be completed within the hour to receive credit and runners may not begin the next loop early. The Blitz variation records and displays individual lap times; placement is determined first by distance completed and then by cumulative lap time for runners with the same number of loops. Live timing provides lap and cumulative totals during the event.

Amenities at the finish area include a well stocked aid area with snacks and an electrolyte drink, Great Harvest Bread at the end of the 4 hour event, and pizza at the end of the 8 and 12 hour events. All finishers who complete at least one loop receive a locally made finisher medal and participants who complete 12 loops receive a leather patch beanie commemorating the 50 mile total. Course navigation uses pink flags, cones, and signs. The park offers a pavilion, playground, courts, grassy areas, and shade suitable for spectators and crew.

Packet pickup is available Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm at Salt Lake Running Company. Race day pickup begins at 5:30 am. Each of the 4 hour, 8 hour, and 12 hour events is capped at 60 runners to limit trail congestion. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
