This event is a trail run at Crystal Cove State Park in Laguna Beach, California, that raises funds for the John Wayne Cancer Foundation. Packet pickup is mandatory and scheduled for Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Road Runner Sports Costa Mesa, 1835 Newport Blvd, Costa Mesa, CA; pickup hours are provided. Each participant packet contains a bib, a John Wayne Grit Series shirt, and other items. Finisher mugs are given at the finish line and participants also receive a participant shirt. The event is cup less; aid stations will not provide cups. Runners should bring a hydration pack or handheld bottle with a large opening for volunteer refills. Complimentary yellow bandanas are available at packet pickup for registered cancer survivors while supplies last.

Parking is available inside the park with a $15 fee paid by phone via QR code; cash is not accepted and a transaction fee applies. Specific lots are assigned for 50K runners and for 25K and 5K runners, with shuttle service to the start and return after the event. The event includes race categories with podium prizes for the top three female and top three male finishers in each distance. A fundraising week is scheduled April 20 to 26, 2026.
