Newport Coast 2026 Trail Run
The John Wayne Grit Series - Newport Coast takes place at Crystal Cove State Park in Laguna Beach, California. This running event features courses consisting of dirt roads and single-track trails, characterized by hill climbs and views of the ocean. The event supports the John Wayne Cancer Foundation, with proceeds contributing to cancer research and programs.
Participants can choose from three different distances:
- 50 km
- 25 km
- 5 km
The event is a cupless race to reduce waste. Runners are required to bring their own handheld water bottles or hydration packs to refill at aid stations, as no cups will be provided during the run. Filled water bottles are available for participants once they reach the finish line.
Registration includes a participant shirt and a finisher mug. There is a competitive element to the races, with podium medals and prizes awarded to the top three female and top three male finishers for each distance. Cancer survivors participating in the event can receive a complimentary yellow bandana at packet pickup. Special bibs are also provided, allowing runners to write the names of individuals they are honoring to raise cancer awareness.
