John Wayne Grit Series - Newport Coast
The John Wayne Grit Series - Newport Coast takes place on May 8, 2027 at Crystal Cove State Park in Laguna Beach. The event features loop courses that start and finish at the bridge in the lower parking lot and include dirt roads, single track trails, hill climbs, and ocean views. Each participant receives a Grit Series participant shirt and a finisher mug. The event is cup less; aid stations will refill hydration packs or handheld bottles with large openings, and filled water bottles will be available for finishers at the finish line. Runners may pick up a complimentary Nathan water cup at the expo/start line area.
Packet pick-up is mandatory on Thursday, May 6, 2027 at Road Runner Sports Costa Mesa, 1835 Newport Blvd, Costa Mesa, CA 92627. Cancer survivors who register can collect a complimentary yellow bandana at packet pickup while supplies last.
The event benefits the John Wayne Cancer Foundation. There is a race component with podium prizes: three female and three male winners per course for a total of 18 podium medals and prizes. Event operations note no pacing and no muling; participants violating this policy will be disqualified. Parking inside the park requires payment by phone and uses a third party parking vendor.
