The John Jay Community Trail Race takes place on Sunday, April 12, 2026, in Cross River, NY (40 N Salem Rd, 10518). The event offers multiple running and walking options for different age groups and finishes at the John Jay Contest Field.

Course and format

The race starts on the lower fields of the John Jay campus and proceeds into wooded trails adjacent to the middle school and high school. The course ends on the John Jay Contest Track & Field next to Route 121. Walkers follow most of the same trail as runners but skip about 1 km of the southern hill loop. The trails run through woods and include hilly sections. Animals are not permitted on the course, except for service animals that meet the ADA definition.

Additional notes

The Kids Jay Dash is run on the track after the 5k run and 4k walk. The first 150 pre-registered runners and walkers receive a race t-shirt; the first 30 children registered for the Dash receive a t-shirt. The community cross country trail was developed and built by student and community volunteers to serve as a home course for John Jay cross country teams and the local community. Run rugged, technical trails at Bear Mountain with 10K or half marathon options and stunning Hudson Valley and NYC skyline views. Proceeds support the New York New Jersey Trail Conference; race day is Apr 4.

Run a scenic all terrain 5K through Stamford Museum and Nature Center, looping Bendel Pond and passing farm animals. Bring kids for a fun run with Petunia the Scottish Highland cow and support the museum.

Join the final Conquer The Trail Race on April 18 in Dobbs Ferry at Mercy University for a scenic 7.5k on the Croton Aqueduct Trail. Celebrate Mercy's 75th, snag a commemorative shirt, and support the Mav Market.

Women focused trail run at Lake Mohegan offering a runnable 5K loop, a 10K two lap option and a 4 hour loop challenge. Expect scenic trails, medals for finishers and post race snacks; nonbinary runners are welcome.
