John Jay Community Trail Race

The John Jay Community Trail Race takes place on April 12, 2026 in Cross River, New York at 40 N Salem Rd. The event uses the John Jay Community Cross Country Trail and the John Jay Contest Field as its primary venues.

The main course is a 5k trail race that begins on the lower fields of the John Jay campus, moves into wooded trails adjacent to the middle school and high school, and finishes on the John Jay Contest Track and Field near Route 121. The wooded sections include hilly terrain. A 4k Trail Walk follows most of the same route but omits about 1k of the southern hill loop. Both courses finish at the contest field.

The Kids Jay Dash is held on the track after the other events and covers 200 meters. The event is supported by local sponsors and volunteer efforts. The John Jay Community Cross Country Trail was developed and built by student and community volunteers to serve the school teams and the broader community.

Animals are not permitted on the course except for service animals that meet the ADA definition. The event includes participant incentives for early registrants and youth entries, such as limited race shirts for a set number of pre-registered runners and for the first group of children entered.
