Ridge Reaper Trail Runs : Ward Pound Ridge Reservation
Ridge Reaper Trail Runs is a trail race held at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, a 4,000+ acre preserve in Cross River, New York, about 50 miles north of New York City. Routes run mostly on wooded trails and combine technical singletrack with wider carriage roads and doubletrack. Most of the course is runnable, with multiple moderate climbs that lead to ridge views.
The event offers these distances:
- 25K, one loop, approximately 2,200 feet elevation
- 50K, two loops of the 25K course, approximately 4,400+ feet elevation
- 50M, two loops of a 25 mile course, approximately 7,000 feet elevation
Course layout notes: all distances start near the meadow section and share the park's northern technical terrain for the first 5 to 6 miles. The southern sections feature more carriage roads, greater elevation, and ridge vistas. GPX course files are provided for navigation and runners are advised to be familiar with the route.
Logistics and race services include multiple aid stations with water and NAAK electrolyte drink, additional food items, and start/finish services for longer distances. The event follows a cupless policy; participants are required to carry their own hydration bottle, pack, or cup. There are no refunds or transfers of registration. Race rules emphasize no littering, following marked course routes, respect for other trail users, and withdrawing only at aid stations or the start/finish.
