Course, location and requirements
The race is listed as Category AS and is 6 miles / 9.6 km with approximately 1,499 ft / 457 m of ascent. The minimum age is 18. The route is flagged and marshalled and the start is located along the Mossy Lea track at the first closed gate (grid ref SK 053950), about a 15 minute walk from registration. Race headquarters is at Jack Badger Workshop, Hawkshead Rd, Hope St, Old Glossop, Glossop SK13 7SS.
FRA kit required includes a waterproof whole body cover with taped seams and an attached hood, hat, gloves, compass, whistle and emergency food. The route crosses Shelf Moor and Dowstone Clough, includes a stream crossing and sections of soft peaty terrain. The course passes three aircraft wreck sites, including one near the top of the climb at about the 1800 foot contour and a B-29 wreck at about 2,038 feet.
