John Clarke Memorial Fell Race (19 June 2026)

The John Clarke Memorial Fell Race is a category A fell race held inside the M25 and organised by the club. The course includes several different climbs and descents around the low point of Yardley Valley and finishes on Pole Hill, where runners have views over the Lea Valley toward central London landmarks.

The race is described as low key. Entry is managed through SPOND with a fee of £5 and is available to both club members and non members. Organisers recommend entering before the day to reduce on the day administration and queuing. The race start is approximately a 10 minute easy jog from the clubhouse, which provides a practical warm up, and post race refreshments are served at the clubhouse.

The event takes place close to midsummer so runners typically finish in daylight. A multi year results archive is maintained and the recorded course best times are 00:20:20 for the fastest male time in 2017 and 00:25:11 for the fastest female time in 2017.
