Jelm Mountain Run
The Jelm Mountain Run is a 10 mile out and back race in Jelm, Wyoming. The course is run entirely on improved jeep roads and covers just over 10 miles with roughly 5 miles up and 5 miles down. Total elevation change is more than 2000 feet, beginning near 7,600 feet and climbing to the Infrared Observatory on Jelm Mountain at about 9,656 feet. The course is not marked because it follows the road the entire way.
There are two aid stations: one located about halfway and one at the top. Aid stations will provide water and light snacks; participants are asked to bring a personal water bottle, cup, or bladder to reduce waste.
Registration is available online until September 10. General entry for the 10 mile race is listed at $55 with a price increase on September 1; the entry fee includes a Jelm hoodie. Race day registration and bib pickup are offered in person on the event day.
Proceeds from the event are donated to Albany County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue. Awards include recognition for top finishers and age group awards, and the top male and female receive a complimentary entry to a future Jelm event and a local award.
Typical fall weather in southeast Wyoming can be variable with normal highs in the upper 50s, and conditions may change rapidly. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
