The race field is capped at 500 total entrants. Average elevations are listed as about 8,700' for the 50 mile and about 7,800' for the 50K and half. Terrain is approximately 70-80% singletrack and 20-30% dirt road.
Course, aid and event rules
The half marathon is described as mostly smooth dirt with moderate climbs. The 50K begins with roughly 10 miles of more technical trail before connecting to flowing forest trails. The 50 mile course links five trail systems, reaches a high point near Middle Bald Mountain, and includes both technical hardscrabble and smoother singletrack. Wildlife noted on course includes moose, raptors, elk, mule deer, black bears and mountain lions. The 50 mile has one intermediate cut-off at the 50K point; the shorter distances have no intermediate cut-offs. Overall time allowances are 16 hours (50M), 11 hours (50K) and 6 hours (Half).
Aid stations provide a sports drink, water, salty snacks, fruit, sweets and soda, with gluten-free and vegan alternatives available on request. Drop bags are allowed for the 50 mile at Deadman and Granite Ridge. Crewing is permitted only at designated trailheads; pacers are not allowed and dogs are prohibited on course.
