James River Scramble (10kish)

The James River Scramble is a trail event of approximately 10k that emphasizes trail terrain over pavement. The course may include roots, gravel, rough surfaces, and low hanging branches. The route starts on the south side of the river and finishes on the north side in the Dominion Energy Flat Lot. Course maps are approximate and the route is subject to change.

Water stops are provided on course but are self serve and cup less, so participants must bring their own hydration device. The event uses wave starts to manage trail volume; participants are asked to line up by predicted pace per mile. Organizers state this is not intended for walkers.

Age and conduct rules include a minimum participant age of 7 years, and children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Consumption of alcohol before the event is prohibited. Prizes are awarded to the top three overall finishers.

Registration fees vary by date; entry includes a finisher t shirt, a chip timed bib, and a drink ticket that must be used during normal festival hours. Entries are non refundable, non transferable, and non deferrable even in cases of cancellation or format change. An income based rate of $15 is available for those who qualify. Packet pickup must occur before the event; bibs are required to access the start area and a photo ID or QR code is needed for pickup. Pickup may be completed for another pre registered participant if their photo ID or QR code is provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
