Event Overview

The Iowa Trail Run Series: A Midsummer Night's Run takes place at McFarland Park, located just outside of Ames, Iowa. This evening event allows participants to run through the woods as the sun sets during the summer. The course features a variety of terrain types, including single track trails, open prairie, and gravel paths.

The following distances are available:

A portion of every registration fee, specifically $3, is donated to the Conservation Partners of Story County. This organization supports the maintenance and preservation of public parks throughout Story County, including Peterson Park and McFarland Park.

Participants receive a clear marked course with on-site support and basic timing services. Each runner is provided with a custom bib and a rotating race item, which may include objects such as socks, a coffee mug, an aluminum water bottle, a stocking cap, or a BUFF. Post-race activities include food for all participants along with various games and giveaways provided by event sponsors. Test your strength and stamina at this premier Iowa obstacle course featuring mud, climbing, and jumping across 5K and 6 mile distances. Compete for a gladiator sword or join a team for a weekend of physical challenges.

Experience the Iowa Trail Run Series at Jester Park featuring 5K, 10K, and 10 hour enduro options. Run along the shores of Saylorville Lake past buffalo enclosures on a mix of grass and dirt trails.

Enjoy a 5k fun run starting and ending at Reclaimed Rails Brewing Company in Bondurant. Participants of all levels can run or walk a course passing Lake Petocka before celebrating with live music and local craft beer.

Choose your challenge at Jester Park in Iowa, with trail distances from 10 miles to 100 miles. The cupless race features rolling hills, a flat section, and basic aid stations. Pacers are welcome for the longer distances.
