Course and logistics

The course is 100% trail with small rolling hills and some flat sections. The event lists 455 feet of elevation gain per loop, totaling 4,550 feet of ascent and descent for the 100 mile distance. The 50K, 50 Mile, and 100 Mile distances are UTMB index races. Aid stations are located at mile 5 and at the mile 10 start/finish area; they will be cupless so participants must bring their own cups, bottles, or packs. Aid station food is described as basic options such as pizza, pop, rice and beans, potatoes, sports drink, and GU. A shirt and a medal are included, though shirt availability depends on signup deadlines. For the 100 miler, pacers may join at the start of the 6th lap (mile 50); multiple pacers are allowed but each must complete a 10-mile loop. Running with dogs or bicycle pacers is not allowed except by case-by-case approval for disabilities. Packet pickup is available the Thursday before the race at Fleet Feet Des Moines, 521 E Locust St, Des Moines, IA. Registration closes on Nov 19.
