HURT ʻAiea Loop Express
Halawa, United States • 23 May 2026
ʻAiea Loop Express at Keaīwa Heiau State Recreation Area
The event follows the Aiea Loop Trail, covering 6.75 miles through forested valleys and along open ridges with views of Halawa Valley, the southern coast of Oʻahu, and the Waiʻanae Range. The course totals 1,442 feet of elevation gain and is approximately 95% trail and 5% road. Trail surfaces include roots, rocks, stream crossings, and mud-prone sections after rain.
The route begins at the park pavilion area and uses a one-way paved road to reach the trailhead before entering the loop. Runners encounter mostly wide trail sections with a few single-track challenges. The inbound return drops back down a short steep paved road to the pavilion finish area. The course uses color-coded routing: outbound on orange, inbound on green, and a blue section that is closed and off limits.
Good trail traction is suggested for the varied surfaces. Photographers are present near the finish and post-race provisions include food and a goodie bag. The map for the area shows trail mileage markers, intersecting loops, ridge locations, stream crossings, and contour lines up to about 1,600 feet.
