Kailua Beach 4.4-Mile Shark Chase

The event is an in-person beach run held at Kailua Beach Park, with the start on the sand near the Kailua Beach boat ramp. The single race distance is 4.4 Miles and the course is entirely on the beach.

The route is an out-and-back along the shoreline to a turnaround point near the Kaneohe Marine Corps Base, then returns to the start area. Shoes are optional; participants may run through shallow water depending on the tide and personal preference. A costumed "shark" begins ahead as part of the event format.

Registration opens 3/26/2026 and closes 5/12/2026; the registration fee is $35.00. There is no separate packet pickup; bibs are available on race day at the event check-in.

Awards are given to the top overall male and female finishers and to the top three in 5-year age groups. After the run there is a potluck gathering in the park. Participants may bring a dish to share, drop off food at the check-in tent before the event, and use an available ice cooler for items needing cold storage. Plates, cups, flatware, and beverages will be provided. A limited number of beach mats will be available; participants may also bring chairs or blankets. Families are welcome to remain in the park for the post-race gathering. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
