The Hot August Night Trail Race is a night trail event in the Citrus Tract of the Withlacoochee Forest. The race starts and ends at Holder Mine Campground, 4399 Trail 10, Inverness, FL. Headlamps or flashlights are required for all participants. The course is entirely single-track trail with packed sand or pine-needle surfaces and some gentle ups and downs. The route is marked with reflective pins and glow sticks. At the completion of each loop, participants cross a timing mat. Every finisher receives a handcrafted medal.
Distances, aid, packet pickup, camping
- 20 mile - two 10-mile loops
- 10 mile - one 10-mile loop
- 5 mile - one 5-mile loop
Aid and services: the 5-mile loop has an on-course hydration station at about 2.4 miles, an aid station at the finish line, and a post-race picnic. The 10-mile loop has a hydration station and a staffed aid station on-course, another aid station at the finish line, and a post-race picnic. Packet pickup begins at 5:00 pm and continues until 7:25 pm. RV and tent campsites are available at Holder Mine Campground. Participants are advised to wear bright clothing for visibility.
