8-Hours of Berm
The 8-Hours of Berm is an 8 Hour timed ruck event held on August 15, 2026 at Ross Prairie Trailhead in Dunnellon, FL. The event uses a 6.5 mile loop with an elevation gain of +135 feet and takes place on conservation land that was acquired in 1995 through the Preservation 2000 Act. The loop follows the Berm Loop section of the Skunk Ape 100 Mile Endurance Run course and passes through longleaf pine forests, oak hammocks, and dry prairies.
The Berm consists of fire lines and cleared forest roads with variable footing from deep sand to firmer trails and exposed stretches. The course offers stretches with little canopy cover and a mix of overgrown roads and natural trails. The event states there are no DNFs and no cutoffs. Crews and pacers are not required.
Rucking rules require a pack to be carried for the entire event. Weight checks occur at check in. Minimum dry weights are 20 lbs for women, 20 lbs for men under 150 lbs, and 30 lbs for men 150 lbs and over. Packs must be backpacks worn on the back; vests and hand carried loads are not permitted. No outside assistance or weight sharing is allowed.
Ross Prairie facilities include a campground with 14 sites, electrical and potable water hookups, picnic pavilions, a dump station, and a bathhouse. Self crewing with tents is permitted in designated areas. Combat Racing Events organizes the race and registration closes August 8. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
