8-Hours of Berm

The 8-Hours of Berm is an 8 hour timed trail event held at Ross Prairie Trailhead in Dunnellon, Florida. The course follows the Berm Loop section of the Skunk Ape 100 Mile Endurance Run area on conservation land acquired through the Preservation 2000 Act, passing longleaf pine forests, oak hammocks, and dry prairies.

The Berm consists of fire lines and forest roads with light sandy soil, exposed stretches, overgrown sections, deep sand and firmer sand, and dedicated singletrack. The course layout offers varied underfoot conditions and open stretches with limited tree canopy. The loop distance is 6.5 miles with an elevation gain of +135' per loop. The event is run as an 8 hour timed challenge and the organizer lists no DNFs and no cutoffs. The event does not require a crew or a pacer.

Support and facilities at Ross Prairie include a bathhouse on site and space for participants to self-crew using 10x10 tents. The nearby Ross Prairie Campground provides 14 sites with 30 and 50 amp electrical pedestals, potable water hookups, picnic pavilions, a dump station and a bathhouse. Combat Racing, a veteran owned and operated small business, is the event organizer following the race's inaugural year with Skunk Ape Events. Registration closes on August 8 at 11:59 PM ET.
