Horsethief Canyon Trail Half Marathon

The Horsethief Canyon Trail Half Marathon takes place in the Pine Creek Wilderness of Alpine, California. The event is held with permissions granted by the U.S. Forest Service, and participants are required to respect the surrounding lands during the competition.

The event offers two distinct distances:

  • Half Marathon
  • 10 km

The course is designed as an out-and-back route on a wide dirt fire road. This surface provides stable footing regardless of weather conditions. The terrain is not technical, making it a predictable running surface. The route profile consists primarily of an uphill section until the turnaround point, followed by a mostly downhill path back to the finish line. A volunteer is stationed at the turnaround point to verify that each participant completes the full distance.

Parking for the event is located at the race start, which is situated at the Horsethief Canyon Trailhead on Forest Route 16S04. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
