Half Howler 2026

The Half Howler is a 5 km adventure run and obstacle course held in Holme Village on the edge of the Lake District on 11 July 2026. The event is part of the village Festival of Sport weekend and is open to participants aged 12 and above. The course is described as undulating and multi-terrain, routed across roads, fields, and canal paths and including obstacles such as cargo nets, walls, monkey bars, and a water slide. The 2026 edition will use a Fantasy theme.

The event is one element of a community weekend of activities that also includes the original 10 km Holme Howler, a Mini Howler fun run for younger participants, a village fete, a 5-a-side football tournament, and an after-party. Entries are limited to a maximum of 200 participants for the 5 km race. Entry categories and fees listed for the 5 km event include adult and junior prices. Entries close on 10 July 2026 and transfers close on 7 July 2026.

A 50 miles trail ultra in the Yorkshire Dales with 2,593 m of ascent, starting and finishing at Malham Showfield. The route follows the Pennine Way and Yorkshire Three Peaks, includes five checkpoints, GPS tracking and an 18 hour cutoff.

A 14 kilometre fell race with 1,065 metres of ascent visiting Wetherlam, Swirl How and the Old Man of Coniston. Navigation is by map and compass only and entrants must have fell running experience.

Marked and marshalled trail races in Staveley across 5k, 10k and half marathon routes that use valleys, fells and mixed underfoot surfaces. The event village includes food stalls, live music and race commentary.

Experience a traditional fell race in the scenic Lake District with the Storth Stampede. This event features a nine kilometer senior course and dedicated junior races for younger athletes looking to test their skills on the hills.
