HKY 100 Mile Ultra Trail Race

The HKY 100 Mile Ultra Trail Race is a multi-category 100-mile event in Hickory, North Carolina, held October 17 to 18, 2026. The start and finish area is at L. P. Frans Stadium / Winkler Park. The event accepts solo entrants and relay teams.

The course is a roughly 4-mile loop consisting of about 70% trails and 30% paved surfaces. It includes double-track farm trails, single-track hiking trails, the Aviation Trail, passages through Winkler Park, and a finish through the Hickory Crawdads stadium. The full 100-mile total includes over 15,500 feet of elevation gain, several short steep climbs, and two longer climbs of 0.65 miles each. Trail features include hills, descents, tight turns, roots, and rocks. The route will be marked for daytime and night running.

Aid stations are located at the Start/Finish and at the corner of Goat Farm Road and Aviation Trail (approximately 1.44 miles on course). Drop bags are permitted at those two locations. Pacers and crew are allowed with specific rules: pacers must sign waivers and wear identifying bibs, only one pacer at a time is allowed with a runner, and pacers may not provide physical assistance on the trail. Night running requires a personal light.

Entry benefits include a hoodie, a sponsor goody bag while supplies last, access to stocked aid stations, custom finisher awards for all finishers, and free race photos. Packet pick-up includes a Friday evening Packet Pick-up Party and alternate pick-up at Highland Recreation Center with published hours. Registration closes at midnight on October 4. The event has a no refund policy with limited race credit options and allows entry transfers and volunteer opportunities that can offset entry costs.
