Zombie Run 5K & One Mile Spooky Family Fun Run
The Rotary Club of Morganton presents the Second Annual Zombie Run 5K and One Mile Spooky Family Fun Run on October 10, 2026 at the historic Courthouse Square in downtown Morganton, North Carolina.
Distances:
- 5K Zombie Run with Velcro belts and three flags.
- One Mile Family Fun Run for families and friends in costume.
In the 5K Zombie Run, runners wear Velcro belts holding three flags. Zombies are stationed along the route and will try to remove flags. Runners turn in flags at the finish for participation medals. Overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards will be given based on finishing times combined with flags retained. Volunteers will be stationed along the route and a timeclock will be located at the finish line.
The One Mile Family Fun Run is a shorter option for participants who prefer to walk or run without encountering Zombies. Costume wearing is encouraged.
After the runs there will be an after party at Courthouse Square with food trucks on site, beverages available for purchase, activities, and music. Proceeds from the event will be awarded to Blue Ridge Community Action Group and Mountain Aid Project. Registration fees vary: Zombie Run starts at $30 and increases after September 1 and again after October 1; Family Fun Run registration is $10.
