Castlewellan is an off-road race organised by Newcastle AC and based at the Life Adventure Centre with routes in Castlewellan Forest Park. The marked course covers 8 km on forest paths and includes 300 m of climb.

The event is the first race in the 2026 Hills and Dales series and takes place on 16 April 2026. Entry periods are listed as opening 20 March 2026 and closing 15 April 2026. Entry fees are £12 for affiliated runners and £14 for unaffiliated runners. At the time of listing there are 224 participants entered. Registration is handled through the SiEntries system.

Participants must be at least 15 years old on or before 1 January 2026 to take part. The start area grid reference is 335 366. The route is waymarked as a marked course.

Race kit rules are specified: race numbers must be attached to the chest rather than to shorts, and persistent noncompliance may lead to disqualification. Full body cover must be carried to the event; runners who fail the kit check at the finish in poor conditions may be disqualified.
