Hero's Hill Challenge

The Hero's Hill Challenge takes place at Johnson University in Knoxville. The event supports Operation Hero's Hill, an initiative focused on providing stable housing for unhoused veterans in the local community. The campus serves as the backdrop for several different athletic activities and formats.

Participants can choose from the following event options:

  • 5K Run
  • Family Walk
  • Hero's Hill Challenge - Individual
  • Hero Challenge - 2-Person Team
  • Hero Challenge - 3-Person Team
  • Hero Challenge - 4-Person Team

The 5K Run route goes through the campus and includes awards for overall winners and participants in age groups divided into 10-year increments. The Family Walk is designed for all ages and is compatible with strollers.

The Hero's Challenge is a multi-discipline event available for solo participants or teams. The format consists of a 1-mile run followed by a series of exercises: 140 burpees, 140 lunges, and 140 squats. Participants finish the event with a final 1-mile run. On teams, all members run the first and last miles together. Exercises may be divided among team members in any way, but must be completed sequentially with only one person active at a time. Teams can be all-male, all-female, coed, or Junior ROTC. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
