  • 8KM course
  • 13KM course

The route passes through rivers, forests, bogs, streams, hill slopes and mountain paths; the longer distance includes the Little Sugar Loaf. Man-made obstacles named on the course include Heartbreak Ridge, Splash Zone, Ice Baths, Valley of Pain and Hell on Earth. Summer events add water features such as the Water Jump, Pontoon Mania and Splashdown Slide.

Starts are organised in waves of about 250 to 400 participants and registrants choose a preferred wave when registering. Each course has a cut-off time for health and safety; marshals may direct participants on shortcuts or assist them off the course by buggy if required.

From June to September some obstacles involve water. Participants must wear a buoyancy aid before entering lake areas and lifeguards are on duty. The minimum age for HELL & BACK Adult is 16; 16 and 17 year olds must complete a parental or guardian consent form.

The event is presented as a challenge rather than a race and no timing chips are used. Individual Hellfire prices listed are 8KM €81 and 13KM €87; prices include a mandatory €6 personal accident insurance fee and an exclusive finisher's T-shirt.
