Heart of Wales Line (HOWL) Trail

The Heart of Wales Line (HOWL) Trail is a fully supported trail running event following the Heart of Wales Line Trail. The inaugural running takes place in May 2027 and traces sections of the long distance walking and running route that runs between railway stations.

The route runs between Llandrindod Wells and Craven Arms and passes through parts of Shropshire, Powys, Carmarthenshire, Brecon Beacons National Park, and the City and County of Swansea. The trail is way-marked using roundels, finger posts and signs that carry a distinctive viaduct logo. The event is presented as a series of distances that use the established Heart of Wales Line Trail corridor and highlight local landscapes, communities and railway heritage.

Distances available for the inaugural event include:

  • 50 miles
  • 26 miles
  • 16 miles

The event page describes the race as fully supported and routed along the way-marked Heart of Wales Line Trail. Practical details such as entry procedures, route-specific maps and logistics are provided separately for each distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
