HAROC (Hanging Rock Challenge) - Danbury, NC
HAROC is a trail running event held on December 5, 2026, at Hanging Rock State Park in Danbury, North Carolina, organized by Tanawha Adventures. The event offers two distances and runs on primarily natural, technical trails.
Distances:
- 50k (about 30.6 miles)

The courses traverse rocky and rooty singletrack, cliffs, boulder fields, and sections near waterfalls. Most of each course is on trail with very little pavement. The route descriptions list multiple aid stations and notable elevation change on both distances.
Key course details provided by the organizer include estimated elevation gain, approximate trail and pavement miles, time limits, and aid station counts. For the 50k the organizer lists about 5,100 feet of elevation gain and four aid stations. For the 25k the organizer lists about 2,800 feet of elevation gain and two aid stations. Each course also includes a small amount of paved approach or connector mileage.
The organizer notes a contingency backup date of February 14 in case of significant ice or snow. Registration and entry availability are managed through the event's registration system. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
