Pilot Mountain Goat

Pilot Mountain Goat - Pinnacle, NC - December 19, 2026

Pilot Mountain Goat is a trail running event organized by Mountain Goat Racing at Pilot Mountain State Park in Pinnacle, North Carolina. The event offers two measured distances and is limited to 150 runners in total. Registration closes on December 17, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET and entry fees range from USD 40.50 to 45.50. Packet pick-up is available outside the Pilot Mountain Visitor Center on December 18 from 4:00 to 5:30 PM and at the starting area on race day from 8:15 to 9:50 AM.

Distances:

• 7 Mile Course around back of mountain via Mountain and Grindstone trails
• 3 Mile Course up Grindstone and around the knob on Pilot Knob trail

Both races begin at the campground and finish at the top of the mountain. Participants must return to their vehicles by running or walking down the trail for about 2.25 miles or arrange a ride; park staff cannot provide rides back down after the race. The first 49 cars will be parked at the campground; additional cars will use overflow lots, so carpooling is recommended.

Registered runners receive long sleeve technical shirts, are eligible for awards (top three men and women and age-group prizes as specified), and a post-race breakfast. No refunds are issued; transfers or distance changes are allowed through December 16, 2026.
