Hankley Common 10 km: guided trail run

A guided trail run of 10 km starting and finishing at Hankley Common Lower Car Park, Elstead, Surrey. The route uses varied trails and offers open views across the common. The event fee for the March 2026 date was £16 per person and a car park is available at the meeting location.

The route visits a replica section of the Atlantic Wall built in 1943 in an area known as the Lion's Mouth. The reinforced concrete structure was used as a training aid before the D Day landings. Parts of Hankley Common have been used in film and television productions. The area is also an active Ministry of Defence training area, and participants may encounter military personnel conducting exercises.

Runs are offered as sunset sessions during the lighter months and night runs during darker months. Night sessions use headtorch running within a guided group. The event is organised as a non competitive group run; participants should be able to maintain an average pace around 10 minutes per mile, approximately 6 minutes per kilometre, for prolonged periods on trails.

A full kit list is provided to attendees. Silva head torches and Salomon trail shoes are available to trial; participants can state shoe size during registration if interested. Participants may receive an alcohol free beer from Days Brewing Company at the end of the run subject to availability. If the organiser cancels due to COVID 19, a refund or transfer is offered.
