Tuscarora Half Ass 25K & 15K

The Tuscarora Half Ass event takes place at Colonel Denning State Park in Newville, Pennsylvania. This event offers two distinct distances, both starting from Pavilion #2. The race follows a "Half Ass" format, which is an organized event with a small entry fee and limited support, maintaining a low-key atmosphere while providing essential aid and snacks.

Participants can choose between two main distances:

  • 15K (sometimes referred to as the 10k course in specific segment details): Includes over 2,000 feet of elevation gain.
  • 25K: Features over 4,000 feet of vertical gain and includes additional sections beyond the shorter loop.

The 25K course traverses the eastern side of the park and includes specific geographic highlights such as the Woodburn Climb and Flatrock Vista. This route consists of the initial loop followed by an additional 15K segment. Due to the nature of the terrain, time limits are enforced, including a specific cutoff at the 7-mile mark for the longer distance and a final hard cutoff for all participants in the afternoon.

Aid stations are placed at various intervals along the trails. For the 15K distance, one station is available at mile 5. The 25K participants have access to additional stations at miles 6.9, 8.6, and 14. Spectator access is primarily limited to foot traffic areas, though the area near the start and finish line provides a viewing point as runners pass through at mile 7. Registration is limited to a total of 80 runners across both events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
