Awesum Possum Lake Trail Adventure in memory of a local volunteer
The event is a community trail day held at Opossum Lake Park in Carlisle, PA. It takes place on the Anglers Access Trail and uses the park trails, including a new bridge and additional paths around the lake. Terrain includes grassy fields, pavement, rocks, roots, and possible mud. Participants may see the lake and local wildlife while on the course.
There are three event options with different formats and fees:
- 6 miles - obstacle course with on-course penalties for failed obstacles.
- 4 miles - run.
- 4 miles - walk.
The 6 mile course includes obstacles; failed or bypassed obstacles carry a penalty of approximately 15 burpees. The organizer recommends gloves, towels, and a change of clothes for that event. Participants should wear suitable footwear and dress for the weather because shelter is limited. Parking at the lake is limited; additional parking is available within walking distance. Snacks and refreshments will be provided on site.
Registrations include a race shirt; registering by May 16 guarantees a shirt. Results are chip timed. Awards will be given to top male and female finishers and to age-group placings in five-year brackets. All proceeds benefit the Friends of Opossum Lake Conservancy, a 501(c)(3) organization. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
