Groovy Kinder Love and Groovy Baby Love : Peak District fell races

Groovy Kinder Love (long course) and Groovy Baby Love (short course) are linked fell races held on Kinder in the Peak District, England, on 5 September 2026. Both races start together from the Valley Road electrical substation and finish at the Scout Hut on Swallow House Lane in Hayfield. The event uses a single entry for both routes; competitors choose which route to run when race numbers are allocated. The overall entry limit is 200 runners. Pre-entry is available and entry on the day is permitted for a higher fee.

  • Groovy: 24.5 km / 1270 m climb, Category AL.
  • Groovy Baby: 15.5 km / 650 m climb, Category BM.

Competitors must meet mandatory kit requirements and there will be a 100% kit check. Required items include a waterproof whole-body cover with taped seams, hat and gloves, a map and compass, a whistle, and emergency food. The course is largely unmarked and includes upland terrain across Sites of Special Scientific Interest, so navigation skills and prior experience of mountain terrain are required. There are three main route split points (Pennine Way junction / Jacob's Ladder, Broad Clough, and the bottom of Sandy Heys) and a three hour thirty minute cut-off at the bottom of Sandy Heys. Registration takes place at Hayfield Scout Hut; a carpark is available and vehicles are left at owners’ risk. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
