Groovy Kinder Love Fell Race

Hayfield, United Kingdom • 5 Sep 2026

Event overview

The Groovy Kinder Love meeting in the Peak District includes two fell races run under FRA regulations on the same day: the full Groovy Kinder Love (Category AL) and a shorter Groovy Baby Love (Category BM). Both races use Hayfield Scout Hut on Swallow House Lane (SK22 2HB) as the event venue and start from the Valley Road electrical substation. Entry is available in advance or on the day; the entry limit for the combined races is 200 and minimum age is 18. Entry fees listed are £10 for pre-entry and £12 for entry on the day.

  • Groovy Kinder Love: 24.5 km / 1290 m climb
  • Groovy Baby Love: 15.5 km / 650 m climb

Course and safety

Both races begin together and split at several locations on the route, notably at the Pennine Way junction/Jacob's Ladder, at Broad Clough ford, and near Benny's Bridge at the bottom of Sandy Heys. Much of the course is unmarked; competitors are responsible for their own navigation and must carry map and compass. A compulsory kit list is enforced with a 100% kit check. Mandatory items include waterproof whole-body cover with taped seams, hat and gloves, compass and map, whistle, and emergency food. There is a checkpoint cut-off on the route at the bottom of Sandy Heys; marshals and mountain rescue support are used for competitor safety. Registration is at the Scout Hut and a single entry covers either race choice at number allocation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
