Event overview

The Toohey Trail Run is a trail running event on Sunday 21 September 2025 at Ring Road, Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan), 170 Kessels Road, Nathan. The course runs from bitumen into the bush and goes through Toohey Forest. Three course distances are offered:

  • 21.1 km
  • 10 km
  • 5 km

The event includes race pack collection and post-race presentations.

Features, charity and community

The 2025 event is a cup-less event and includes a race singlet or shirt and a finisher medal. A pace runner facility is offered free to participants. Volunteers support race-day roles, and a Griffith Sport Event Leaders program gives current students event delivery experience.

Griffith Sport partners with Diabetes Australia for 2025. Five dollars from every registration fee will be donated to Diabetes Australia. In 2024 the Toohey Trail Run attracted over 1,100 runners and raised $10,023 for Diabetes Australia. Event partners assist with delivery of the event. Run the Tamborine Mountain Relays & Marathon on a scenic 7 km loop with hills and mixed surfaces. Take on a solo 42 km or team relays of 2, 3 or 6 runners while supporting the local Little Athletics Club.

Join Round 5 of the SEQ Trail Running Series in Bunyaville on 1 Feb 2026, with 8.6 km and 15.7 km trail options from James Drysdale Park. Timed races, pro photos, series points, plus post race coffee and a charity BBQ.

Round 6 of the SEQ Trail Running Series Season 13 hits scenic Wyaralong Dam on 15 Feb 2026 with 8.9 km and 13.9 km out and back trail courses. Professionally timed with race photos, series points, coffee and prize draws.

Take on scenic trails around Gold Creek Reservoir with 18 km or 36 km options at the Pinnacles Classic, limited to 200 runners. Enjoy mid course aid and post race refreshments while respecting the park and its marked trails.
