The Griffith Park Trail Marathon Relay & 8K is an annual trail running event held in Griffith Park, with the athlete village and festival based at the Lower Old Zoo. The event includes team marathon relays and a separate 8K race on a new true loop course that uses park trails and fireroads with some pavement.

The loop course features a notable 1.7 mile climb, followed by flatter winding sections and a mostly downhill finish for much of the final approach. The course is described as scenic and uses a mix of surfaces and terrain. Organizers provide three well supported aid stations and fully stocked aid for runners.

Event services and amenities include premium women’s or men’s short sleeve t-shirts, unique finisher medals, fast and accurate chip timing, free professional race photos, multiple DJs and music, food trucks, post-run food and drinks, and an expanded festival area. Relay teams receive exclusive badges for captains and last leg runners and access to a dedicated exchange zone.

Competitive features noted on the event page include $1,500 in total cash prizes for Open Division winners, awards for top teams in divisions, awards and age grade prizes for 8K finishers, and a SoCal Showdown competition within the event.
