Tough Mugu

Tough Mugu is a supported trail race in Point Mugu State Park near Malibu, California. The event offers two distances on coastal mountain terrain and uses chip timing with same-day results. Aid stations are stocked with Skratch Labs hydration and course support includes professional medical services and staffed aid stations.

The course routes use the Ray Miller Trail, fire roads and single track, with ocean and island viewpoints, valley sections, and a final series of switchbacks. The 25k route is 15.75 miles with 2,427 feet of climbing and includes multiple aid stations with published cut-offs. The 10k route is 6.2 miles with 1,164 feet of climbing and a midcourse aid station.

Participants receive locally made finisher medals and a race shirt. Podium prize money is distributed from a $2,000 purse with specified amounts for top finishers. Custom overall awards are given in multiple gender categories and age group awards are presented for set age brackets. A post race festival features breakfast, a beer garden for those 21 and older, massage services, and free next day race photography.
