Tough Mugu is a trail running event held at La Jolla Canyon in Point Mugu State Park. It is race two of the Bulldog Challenge Series and offers two measured trail distances with marked courses and aid station support.

- 10k (6.2 miles, 1,164' elevation gain)
The 25k course follows the Ray Miller Trail and sections of the Overlook Fireroad, includes a scenic bypass around Mugu Peak with views of the Channel Islands, passes long valleys with Boney Mountain in view, and finishes via Ray Miller switchbacks. The event is cupless; aid stations are positioned along the courses at specified mile markers and some locations include cut-offs.
The event is organized by SoCalTrail with chip timing and same-day results. Support includes professionally marked courses, aid stations staffed by local run clubs, certified sports massage before and after the race, and medical coverage at aid stations. All participants receive locally made finisher medals and a soft or tech race shirt. Post-race festival features a hydration station with Long Run Coffee and Athletic Brewing, breakfast tacos including plant-based options, a beer garden with complimentary finisher beers for 21 and older, and free next-day race photography.
Prize offerings include a $2,000 podium purse and custom overall and age-group awards across the 10k and 25k distances. Series finishers are eligible for Bulldog Challenge series awards and prizes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
