Event Overview
The Bulldog Ultra is a trail running event held in the Santa Monica Mountains at Malibu Creek State Park in Calabasas, California. It is the third race in the Bulldog Challenge Series. The event features three distance options.
Distances
- 75k Ultra Trail: A new three-loop distance with a 10-hour time limit.
- 50k Ultra Trail: Described as Southern California's oldest 50k race.
- 25k Trail
The Course
The course uses single track and fire roads through the mountains, offering views of the terrain and ocean. The organizers note that temperatures in the canyons can be high and the climbs are steep. The event is cupless.
- 50k Course: Approximately 29.4 miles with 5,784 feet of elevation gain.
- 25k Course: Approximately 14.87 miles with 2,947 feet of elevation gain.
- Aid Stations: Multiple fully stocked aid stations are provided on both the 25k and 50k courses. The 50k has a mid-race point where runners can access drop bags and pacers. Specific cut-off times are enforced at various points on the course.
Awards & Extras
A podium prize purse is offered for the 50k distance. There is a course record bonus for the 25k. Overall and age group awards are given for all distances. Participants receive a shirt or tank top and a custom finisher's medal.
