The Bulldog Ultra
Calabasas, United States • 15 Aug 2026
The Bulldog Ultra is a trail running event held at Malibu Creek State Park in Calabasas, California. The event is in its 34th year and is staged on single track and fire roads in the Santa Monica Mountains, with ocean views from parts of the course. The terrain includes long, steep climbs and exposed canyon sections where temperatures can reach triple digits.
Two race distances are offered:
- 50k Ultra - 29.4 miles, 5,784 ft elevation gain
- 25k Trail - 14.87 miles, 2,947 ft elevation gain
Both distances use multiple fully stocked aid stations. The 50k course includes a second loop with a staffed aid station that provides toilets, drop-bag access and allows pacers. Cut-off points are enforced at aid stations and runners must meet those cut-offs to continue.
Awards and prizes include overall podium places for female, male and non-binary categories, age-group awards, a $3,500 prize purse for the 50k and a $500 course record bonus for the 25k. Series competitors can earn a limited edition Bulldog Challenge jacket and entry into a season-pass raffle. Additional event features include event shirts, hand-made finisher medals, race photography, post-race food, a 21+ beer garden and sports massage. All SoCalTrail races are cupless.
