Trail Running in Bear Creek Lake Park

The Great Trailhead Foot Race takes place at Bear Creek Lake Park in Lakewood, Colorado. The course is set in the shadow of the Denver skyline and consists of single-track and dirt trails. Participants can choose between two main distances:

  • 5 Miler (one lap)
  • 10 Mile (two laps)

The event is held at the Pelican Point picnic shelter. The registration fee covers several amenities, including full-day admission to the park, a gender-specific t-shirt, and access to a post-run party. This party includes a finisher meal featuring food items such as hot dogs, chips, protein bars, and bananas. Non-alcoholic beer is available for all, and participants aged 21 and older with a valid ID can receive beer. Those who complete the 10 Mile distance also receive a finisher mug.

The race serves as an official qualifier for the BolderBoulder. The event follows a cup-free finish line policy to reduce waste. Additionally, the race partners with Sneakers4Good to collect new or gently used athletic shoes for donation to the charity Growing Home.
