Great Springs Trail Race - Natural Bridge Caverns
This event is a multi-distance trail race held at Natural Bridge Caverns in San Antonio, Texas. Regular distance races begin inside the caverns and then continue on surface trails that cross hills and wooded sections. The course marking system uses orange caution tape, yellow arrows, and numerous confidence markers; reflective markings are used for dark hours.
Distances include:
- 4 mile run
- 8 mile run and ruck
- 16 mile run
- Last Person Standing run and ruck
- Youth 1 mile
The Last Person Standing format uses a core 4.1667 mile loop for runners and a 2.47 mile loop for ruckers. Last Person Standing participants receive a Discovery Tour pass; finishing the 24th lap upgrades that to a Hidden Wonders Tour pass. The Last Person Standing hub on the surface serves as the start and finish for each lap and provides space for crew, drop bags, and canopies.
Aid support includes one on-course aid station for the 16 mile race and a full aid station at the finish/next lap arch with day and night food options. Ruck division rules require mandatory weigh ins, specified minimum weights by competitor weight, and that weight be carried on the back. The event follows Leave No Trace practices and is cupless; collapsible cups will be available for purchase. Parking is on site with parking areas 200 to 600 yards from the hub.
