The Great Lakes Fell Race, organized by Ambleside AC, is a challenging 21 km (13 miles) fell running event held in the wild western Lake District, England. Featuring 2,130 meters of ascent, the course includes a demanding ascent of The Band to Bowfell, a high-level summit circuit of Upper Eskdale with the highest peaks Scafell Pike and Scafell, and a rugged crossing from Slight Side to Blisco over trackless terrain. The final descent from Blisco is steep and testing. This race is suited only for experienced fell runners with strong map and compass navigation skills, as GPS use is prohibited.
