Grand Ridge Trail Run
Grand Ridge is the final race of the Evergreen trail-running season, held at Grand Ridge Park in the Cascade foothills near Issaquah, Washington. The event uses a system of connected forest trails developed by the Washington Trails Association and features mossy trees, fields of ferns, and fall color in season.
The course is organized as two distinct loops. The shorter loop serves the 5 mile race. The longer loop, described as closer to 14 miles than 13, is used for the half marathon distance; marathon runners complete two loops of the longer course. The 50K consists of two longer loops plus the 5 mile loop. All distances start from the Highpoint Way Trailhead and follow the Issaquah-Preston Trail for 0.5 miles before a climb with rocky, technical switchbacks. The longer course includes a short detour on the Flowing Fir Trail and passes the Duthie aid station.
Trails remain open to other users during the event, including pedestrians and cyclists. Aid stations are stocked with water, Tailwind, Clif product, PBJ sandwiches, fruit, cookies, crackers and pretzels. This is a cupless event; runners are expected to carry a refillable container. Post race soup is provided at the finish line and every finisher receives handmade finisher swag.
Distances and elevation gain:
- 5 Mile 1200 ft elevation gain
- Half Marathon 2200 ft elevation gain
- Full Marathon 4400 ft elevation gain
- 50K 5600 ft elevation gain
A free Woodland Speeders kids race uses a crushed gravel 1.1 mile loop with little elevation gain and allows parents to run with their children. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
