Gowbarrow Round

The Gowbarrow Round is a fell race held in the Lake District, England on Sat 20 Jun 2026. The course covers 7.6 km (4.7 miles) with approximately 335 m of climb and is organised under category BS. The event is based at The Royal Hotel in Dockray, Penrith CA11 0JY.

Entry is available on the day only; there is no pre-entry and the on-the-day fee is £5. Entry formalities are handled at The Royal Hotel. Parking is available at the hotel for a small additional fee. The race runs in conjunction with the Royal Beer Festival.

Participants must be at least 16 years old. Team entries are not permitted and there are no junior races at this event. The event holds a permit and carries UK Athletics insurance provided through the FRA. As a new iteration, there are no existing male or female course records listed.

A fully way marked 47 mile trail around Lake Windermere, open to runners and walkers with 24 hours to complete. The route has GPS support, five aid stations, a halfway bag drop, a finishers meal and a locally sourced medal.

Canicross at Dodd Wood on 9 May 2026 with two marked, chip timed loops and views over Bassenthwaite Lake. Choose an 8K route with 370 m ascent or a 5K route with 210 m ascent; two dogs per runner are allowed on wide sections.

A 9 mile (14.5 km) clockwise fell race around Fairfield that starts and finishes at Rydal Hall near Ambleside, with 914 m of ascent. The flagged route uses checkpoints and a cut off at Great Rigg and FRA kit rules apply.

A senior fell race on 9 May 2026 at Lupton Fields, Sedbergh School, run under Fell Runners Association rules with a fully flagged route and marshals. Entry is for adults aged 18 and over and the entry fee is £2.
