Trail Race at Carolina Beach
The Good Hops 5k'ish Beer Run is an annual trail event held in Carolina Beach, North Carolina. The course is approximately 5 km long and takes place entirely within the Carolina Beach State Park. Participants can choose to run or walk the route, which consists of natural single-track trails. Due to the nature of the state park terrain, the course includes soft sand, tree roots, rocks, and uneven ground.
The event starts and finishes at Good Hops Brewing. Participants assemble in the brewery parking lot before crossing Dow Road to reach the trail start on the greenway. The route features two water stations located at the one-mile and two-mile marks. Following the run, an awards ceremony and festivities take place at the brewery. Registration includes an official race cup and a beer for participants over 21, while younger participants receive an alternative treat.

Awards are presented to the top male and female finishers in the overall, masters (over 55), and military categories. There is also a dedicated category for children aged 14 and under, as well as a "Dad of the Day" award for fathers and children who cross the finish line together. Proceeds from the event benefit Carolina Beach Elementary School and the Friends of the State Park.
