Twin Anchors Copperhead Beer Relay 20K and Beer Mile
The Copperhead Beer Relay and Individual is an endurance event held at the Briar Patch Hunting property in Hampstead, North Carolina, located north of the Poplar Grove Plantation. The course consists of a 5 km loop through wooded terrain. Participants can choose to compete as individuals or in teams of two, three, or four people to complete a total distance of 20 km.
The event features a unique time-deduction mechanic. Before starting each 5 km lap, participants aged 21 and older have the option to consume a 12-ounce beer. Those under 21 or those seeking an alternative can opt for chocolate milk. Completing this task results in a 2-minute deduction from the lap time. The event also utilizes age-graded results and gender-based handicaps to adjust final standings.
Available event categories include:
- 20K Individual
- 20K Relay (including Beer Club and Corporate Charity divisions)
- Beer Mile (open, Clydesdale, and Athena divisions)
- Donut Mile
- Double Copperhead Trouble (combined Beer Mile and 20K Individual)
The Beer Mile challenge involves consuming a beer and running a quarter-mile four times. The 20K course takes place in a natural environment where runners may encounter summer heat and woodland obstacles. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
