Twin Anchors Copperhead Beer Relay 20K and Beer Mile
The Twin Anchors Copperhead Beer Relay 20K and Beer Mile takes place in Hampstead, North Carolina on August 22, 2026. The event is held at the Briar Patch Hunting property near Poplar Grove Plantation and includes individual and team formats, a Beer Mile, and a combined challenge called Double Copperhead Trouble.
Participants complete the 20K by running four 5K loops. Before each 5K lap, runners may choose to drink a 12 ounce beer or chocolate milk; choosing a beverage carries a two minute deduction from that lap time. Beer is available only to those 21 and older; chocolate milk is offered as an alternative. The Beer Mile is scheduled before the main 20K event and involves drinking and running quarter-mile segments. The Double Copperhead Trouble entry combines the Beer Mile and the 20K individual; athletes who enter both are scored in each event and in the combined category.
The event applies age graded results for the 20K individual and team relay. A participant handicap guide is used, for example women receive 10 percent, ages 15 and under receive 5 percent, ages 50-54 receive 14 percent, and increasing percentages apply for older age groups. Registration opens February 1, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
