Race Format and Divisions
The 20k race is divided into four 5k legs. Participants in the individual division complete all four legs alone, while relay teams can consist of two, three, or four people. A baton must be carried during each leg of the race. Specific divisions are available for corporate charity teams, beer clubs associated with breweries, and open categories.
A unique time deduction system is integrated into the event. Participants have the option to consume a 12-ounce beer or chocolate milk before each lap to receive a 2-minute deduction from their lap time. Individual runners can receive a total deduction of up to 8 minutes. Drinking is not mandatory to participate.
Special Challenges
The Double Copperhead Trouble division allows athletes to compete in both the Beer Mile and the 20k Individual race. The Beer Mile involves consuming a beverage and running a quarter-mile for four consecutive segments. For those looking for alternatives, a Donut Mile is also available. While beer options are restricted to participants aged 21 and older, chocolate milk is provided as an alternative for younger runners or those who prefer it.
