The Glentress 8-hour Challenge is an endurance trail event at Glentress on 06/06/2026. Participants complete as many 4.366 mile loops as possible within an 8-hour time limit. Each lap has about 830 ft of ascent. Runners wear an electronic wristband that records each lap and its time through a Basecamp timing monitor. Cut-off rules apply - the latest time to begin a final lap is 7:59:59 hours and the final lap must be completed by 9:00:00 hours.

  • 3 laps = Half Marathon
  • 6 laps = Full Marathon
  • 7+ laps = Ultra Marathon

Logistics and policies

The event route is on trail paths around Glentress and a GPX file is provided for route details. Total places are 250 and the event status is Open. Entry price listed until 03/06/2026 is £44.95; a service fee of 4% (minimum £0.50) applies per sign-up. Parking is in the designated event field parking area and is charged at £6 per day.

Basecamp provides two 6 x 3 meter gazebos for kit storage; the organiser does not accept liability for lost kit. Spectators are welcome at Basecamp. Mandatory kit includes sufficient nutrition and hydration (minimum 500 ml fluid per hour and 60-90 g carbohydrates per hour), appropriate clothing, dry clothes for after the event, a mobile phone, and a headtorch.
